An exclusive housing development in Halifax, West Yorkshire has used sandstone paving from Natural Paving Products (UK) Ltd to create an attractive additional selling point with a luxurious feel.
Comprising of six luxury five-bedroom detached houses in the prestigious Savile Park area of Halifax, the development is a shining example of state-of-the-art modern living – complete with the latest home automation technologies – enclosed in an architecturally sensitive envelope employing native Yorkshire stone. Adding to the generous indoor living space, which includes a gym, cinema room and orangery, each property has a large garden featuring a wrap-around patio and summerhouse.
Arif Hussain, the property developer for the project, commented: “The ethos of the project demanded a high quality finish in all aspects of the build and the outside space was no different. Indeed, you have to sell the house from the outside in so it was imperative that the hard landscaping made the right first impression. It was actually the construction company, BLD Construction Yorkshire Ltd, that recommended Natural Paving Products’ stone and I have to say that I’m very impressed with how it looks – it complements the Yorkshire stone of the house very well and creates a real eye-catching feature that has been a hit with the buyers.”
Installed at the development will be nearly 1,000 square metres of Natural Paving Products Rydal Premiastone Sandstone across the six properties. With a smooth, honed surface and a mix of calm tones, Rydal sits well next to a vast range of colours and materials.
Rydal is also extremely durable with a flexural strength rating of 20-30 MPa and a high frost resistance of less than five per cent reduction in MPa – making it particularly suitable to cooler climates in the UK. In addition, Rydal has a water absorbency of less than two per cent, meaning it is less susceptible to moss, mould, pesticides or salt.
Arif continued: “As well as the aesthetics, durability and cost were also important factors. These houses have been built to last so natural stone was the ideal choice as it’s extremely hardwearing and, in my opinion, ages much better than alternatives. I also found Natural Paving Products very easy to work with, as they were always willing to attend site when needed and reasonably priced too.
“We originally ordered approximately 750 square metres of the paving however, after selling all of the plots and the new owners seeing the stone laid on the first two properties, they all wanted extra paving to include an adjoining path from the patio to the summerhouse. I think that says a lot about just how good the stone looks once installed and is a testament to the craftsmanship of BLD Construction as well.
“It’s been a long journey since we started the planning applications back in November 2012 but it’s all coming together now and BLD Construction has been fantastic right the way through. Their recommendation for Natural Paving Products was a stroke of genius and has really highlighted the importance of getting the external appeal right.”
